TENACITY
To brainstorm, make sure you have tenacity! The Inventor, Edison made 1,000
unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. Edison and his team tested
more than 3,000 designs for bulbs between 1878 and 1880. In November 1879, he
filed a patent for an electric lamp with a carbon filament. Though he was often
ridiculed, Thomas Edison, made over ten thousand attempts before finally
demonstrating the world's first working light bulb 1879. He was asked by a
reporter, “How did it feel to fail 10,000 times?” Edison replied, “I didn't
fail 10,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 10,000 steps.”
It is estimated that at least ten ideas will produce some basic and common
solutions to your problem. Multiply that by ten and some useful and interesting
ideas will arise. However pushing it to a thousand ideas will not only produce
many interesting ideas, but propel you into finding the extraordinary and the
exceptional. In the Brainstormgym, you’ll find it easy to quickly and easily
generate a multitude of excellent alternatives for solving your problem.
In between the mundane, the common and the everyday lurks a universe of
undiscovered possibilities. Come navigate the unexplored and accelerate your
thinking in the BrainstormGym. It requires tenacity to “stick with it” but
the gym prompts your interest and keeps you on track where you can generate
many ideas quickly and masterfully.
ECCENTRICITY
During brainstorming you need a mindset of "eccentricity" to generate
many unique ideas masterfully. Meet some eccentric individuals. They refused
to conform. They took risks and followed their dreams. People who are highly
creative often have odd thoughts and behaviors. Eccentricity may be the result
the brain’s failure to filter out extraneous information. It is said that may
lead to exceptional insights and sensations. Entering the Brainstormgym allows
you a freedom to engage and pursue your unique vision. Here you are free to
relax, and let go of your mental filters. Free to risk and be silly, be weird
or eccentric.
Put your emotions to use. A bad mood could inspire something powerful.
Emotional highs and lows easily push us to extend ourselves. They provide
the fire to ignite the creative fuse. Try imagining hypotheticals. Take risks,
follow your gut, daydream, procrastinate and make mistakes. You have our full
permission to do so here. Listen to your inner voice and follow your heart.
In fact during brainstorming we urge you to go overboard and think the unthinkable,
ponder the outrageous or oppose the established. Friedrich Nietzsche urged
'I tell you: one must still have chaos in oneself to give birth to a dancing star.
” Put that chaos into use.
Rise above and reach beyond stifling rules that ball & chains your creativity.
Explore the outer reaches of realm beyond old irrelevant traditions or redundant
methods Put the extra into ordinary and reap the benefits of the extra-ordinary.
Produce ideas that are ground-breaking, unique, unconventional, exciting and refreshing.
Come navigate the unexplored and accelerate your thinking in the BrainstormGym.
Be wild and let the naughty child inside you inspire craziness. Salvador Dali
did. So did Einstein and David Bowie and see where it got them.
"AWEDACITY"
Awedacity is derived from the word audacity. It alludes to the fact that creativity
often takes guts and nerve to put into action. It means that life does not always
make it easy for those who want to challenge the status quo or express the notion
of changing up things. So when your creative voice whispers in your ear, it will
require the awedacity to listen, take heed and put it into action.
Become an Awedacity Warrior!
However, there are many things that require this mindset. Here are a few that
you will need to be aware of. The creative mindset requires you to have the
awedacity :
to humble yourself & start again
to go against the norm
to seek until you find
to use your intuition
to make mistakes
to be childish
to be silly
to fail
to risk
to be wrong
to be a rebel
to break the rules
to ask
stupid questions
to turn it all upside down
to break down what was before
to admit you don’t know everything
Become an awedacity rebel and discover the latent gems in your mind. Come disturb the equilibrium, break all the rules and navigate the unexplored in the Brainstormgym.
FIND
The only way to enter the Brainstormgym is with a problem.
What if you don’t have a problem?
How do you find a problem?
And what
if you prefer to solve a problem that could make a big difference to a bigger
cause rather than something personal. Here are some suggestions that could
quickly arm you with a goal and a purpose.
Find a problem to solve by asking
yourself what frustrates you. Then ask your family, friends, or collegues what
would improve their lives? Find out from your community (organizations/schools/businesses)
what are their most pressing issues. Do an internet search to find out what
problems people are talking about. Finally pick a problem that you have a passion
for and an interest in.
Write out your problem definition in full detail.
Then ask yourself why it would be important to solve it.
Who would benefit from it?
Would the solution be able to save time or money?
Then answer all the "who,
what, why, when and where" questions in preparation to do a brainstorm workout.
Now bring your problem to the Brainstormgym to spread your imaginative wings
and take off on an exhilarating journey to maximize your creative excellence.
PREPARE
It is important to break down a problem to reveal its bones.
This way we can alter or change its elements to find ideas and explore possibilities.
This step is imperative to your success during brainstorming. The more details
you are able to identify, the more options will open up. So before you start
to brainstorm, explain the following:
What is the problem?
Who is involved?
What is involved?
Where is it happening?
Why is this important to solve?
When does it need to be solved?
Write 3 questions about the problem.
Attributes provides you with the building blocks of brainstorming. The Brainstormgym
ill help you manipulate and transform them. You will be challenged to reach beyond
your comfort zone and at the same time be coached to Combine, Elaborate, Exaggerate,
go Bizarre and many more techniques to alchemize unexpected gold.
INVITE
Another way to brainstorm is to build on the ideas of others.
Idea generating in a group can be fun but it will need structure. Invite a team
of four or five to participate. Print out the relevant PDF and hand one to each
team member. Now you will stimulate solutions by hitchhiking each others ideas.
Divide the participants into groups of 4 or 5. Seating should be in a circle.
Step 1: Write out and explain your problem.
Step 2: Everybody pass their
problem sheet to the one on their left. Take the sheet from the person on your
right.
Step 3: Read the problem on the form in front of you. Take your time
and think hard how you would solve it.
Step 4: Now fill in the next section
with your idea on how you would solve the problem.
Step 5: Again, everybody
pass their sheet to the one on their left.
Step 6: Read the problem on the
sheet in front of you. See the idea that was added by the person before you.
Take your time.
Step 7: Now build on that idea that was already started
and fill in the next section. Add features and elaborate.
Step 8: Again,
everybody pass their sheet to the one on their left.
Step 9: Repeat until
you finally get your own problem back.
Seeing how your problem was solved by the members of the group will give you
a new perspective and possibly lead you to a discovery. Try to produce ideas
that are ground-breaking, unique, unconventional, exciting and refreshing.

Why a Problem?
Since the utimate purpose of making progress in
business or in our personal lives is in fact a form of problemsolving, the concept
of "problem" is therefore defined to include all challenges or activities that may require a
degree of idea generation or alternate solutioning
How to find a problem?
What things are worrying you or keeping
you awake at night? Perhaps it’s a problem at work that is nagging you for a solution.
It could be something simple or something far more complex. Perhaps it’s something
wearing you down that you don’t even consciously realize. Preferably it’s something that
excites you and that you want to solve. Take time to reflect what problem you would
like to tackle which if solved, would add value and joy to your world.
Why do you need a problem?
We all have problems. It’s part of
being a human being, part and parcel of what gives meaning to our lives. How we
solve these problems is what makes us unique, successful and the essence of what
shapes our destiny. Solving problems is primordial to what gives life color, flavor
and spice. The invention of the wheel, the lightbulb and vaccines all solved global
problems and changed our worlds. Brainstorming can only take place where there is
a problem. Best is to make sure that it is the right problem and that the time spent
in solving it, is worth the effort invested.
Types of problems?
On a personal level, problems arise and would
be solved individually and uniquely according to your personal needs , wants and goals.
A problem touching your broader environment, albeit your work, social or even peer
counterparts, would be more difficult. However once solved, would be of more significance
and hold more value. This could potentially ripple out to affect wider spectrum which,
in turn would impact the importance of a “breakthrough idea” . Innovation often
starts on a small scale but soon its magnitude could be global.
How do I check in a problem?
Follow the prompts and answer as
meticulously as possible. First step is to break your problem down so you can find
“attributes” which will significantly impact the quality of your brainstorming
experience. This step is vital to your gym workout and without it, you will not
gain entry into the gym.

to spend a small amount of time reverting back to childhood, having fun, fooling
around mentally and playing with farfetched ideas. This involves exploring the
preposterous, the insane and exciting world of the imagination. This all will be
done in the safety of the gym and you could consider this a therapy session to free
your inner creative genius.

machines utilized and challenges completed.
What are the foundations of the Brainstorming Gym?
Creative thinking
is a skill that can be learned. It doesn't just happen magically. The Brainstorming Gym
simply combines a relaxed, informal approach to problem solving with lateral thinking.
It encourages people to come up with thoughts and ideas that can, at first, seem
a bit crazy. Some of these ideas can be crafted into original, creative solutions
to a problem, while others can spark even more ideas. Even letting go of the need
to be socially acceptable fuels creativity. Quirky and genius come from the same
source, we call it eccentricity. Absurdity is nothing but ridiculous and no reason
at all. When we put some effort in improvising the absurdity then creativity comes
in to picture. Creative thinking takes shape in the form of original ideas.
What are the benefits of the Brainstorming Gym?
Creativity is
the paradoxical integration of doing and being. Studies on creativity suggest that
there are two forces in our brains that are in a constant battle: logic and creativity.
Logic doesn’t want anything new. It simply requires understanding. But the creative
force threatens our logic force by questioning everything we think we understand.
It’s a battle that logic unfortunately usually wins. Creativity is what happens
when we successfully limit the logic force in our brains. The human brain’s frontal
cortex has long been thought of as the hub or center of creativity, as it seems
to be responsible for many of the functions that contribute to creative thinking.
Creativity is the balance between action, emotion, and cognition with the addition
of insight and intuition, emotion and intellect, freedom and discipline, reason and
intuition, the precise and the gossamer, primary and secondary processes and, chaos
and order are all opposites that exist in the creative harmony of the brain. The
Brainstorming Gym endeavours to organize your thinking so your creative being can
take flight
How to get most value from the brainstorming in the BrainStormGym?
The machines were constructed on leading theories and experience in the field or creativity
as it relates to ideation. Although it is designed to establish a relaxed environment
in order to maximize ideation output, take it serious at all times, even when it seems absurd
or bizarre since it is in the twilight zone on the border between fantasy and reality where
some of your greatest ideas may be borne.
How are the ideas generated?
Each Machine
on the brainstormgym will stimulate and challenge different areas in your thinking
cycle to ensure that ideas are extracted from all corners of your mind. You will
respond to the machine stimulus to submit an idea.
